What to know about booking a Makeup Artist

I’ve partnered with a good friend of mine who has been working in the wedding industry for a long time who does AMAZING work as a Makeup Artist.  A lot of times when you’re booking vendors for your wedding you don’t know where to start and it can be hard to sift through to find the right one. So I’ve interviewed Liz, and she’s given us the in’s and out’s for how to find a Makeup artist, and what you need to know before booking them!

What are some things people need to know about booking with a makeup artist?

There are so many types of makeup artists.  Do a search via yelp or theknot.com to find bridal artists near you.  Know that a higher cost shouldn't deter you.  This means you will get a more experienced artist who will do so much more than give you a great look.  They will be fast with communication, ask questions before you think of them, have a high quality clean kit, finish the group on time, keep the day professional and relaxed and take time behind the scenes to keep your experience fun and organized.

What are the most important things when it comes to deciding on your makeup artist?

Congrats you found a few artists whose work you love!

Next It is important to take a few things into account that just pricing won't always tell you.  How long have they done weddings?  Someone who does them often and for many years will ensure you will get a professional who will be organized, on time, keep you relaxed because they know the flow of the day and how to handle possible stresses.  Read their reviews via yelp.com or Theknot.com to get an idea of others experiences with the artist.

What do you need to know about clients before they book?

It helps to have as many details as possible to give you a proper quote and understand your needs for the day.  You would be surprised how many inquiries I get via Instagram or text with no date or location.  Head over to my site and I will ask you those basics (Date, location, head count)

What is your favorite part of your job?

Making sure my client feels like the most beautiful version of themselves.  I also do everything I can to make sure they are relaxed and at ease no matter the environment.  (nerves, small hotel room, mother in laws etc.)

How can someone book you?

Send me an inquiry and we can chat details and a trial date.  Once you send over your deposit and sign our contract the rest is just organizing the details.
