Why connection and trust is so important to have with your photographer

I remember when we got married, planning and looking for vendors I began to feel anxious and doubt about who I was talking with. I thought to myself, are we a good fit? Can I trust this person with the most important day of my life? Do they care about this as much as I do?

This is exactly why building a relationship with my couples is the MOST important thing to me. If you think about it, your photographer is probably the one person you’re going to see the most on your wedding day besides your spouse. I don’t know about you, but I definitely didn’t want a stranger following me around all day, especially with a camera pointing at me..

If there’s anything that you get out of your wedding day working with me, (besides great photos) is I want you to feel COMFORTABLE. I want you both to know me on a personal level, so that when I show up it’s as if you’re seeing an old friend, so I can capture the natural beauty and moments that unfold.

Now I’m sure you’re thinking, “that’s all great, but how are we going to become friends, and how am I going to feel comfortable around a camera?” Well, I’m glad you asked!

I won’t just be another vendor to you, I’m going to show up. I’m going to be present, honest, open, and vulnerable, because that’s where true trust starts. I include complementary engagement sessions in all of my wedding collections, and I do that so that we can become comfortable with each other. I have a chance to get to know you on a deeper level, hear your story, learn how you interact, what makes you hot for each other, and what makes you laugh. At the same time, you get to become comfortable with me. You get to watch me climb trees to get the shot and laugh at me as I lay in the dirt to get the next one.

Building that connection and trust, that’s where real emotion and raw moments come from, and that’s what I want to capture for you, not fabricated perfection. Creating something meaningful and precious to you so that you can always go back to the heart and soul of your relationship.
