Carlsbad Bluff and Beach Maternity and Family Photo Session, San Diego

Talk about a dream shoot in Carlsbad, San Diego! Loved shooting the Miller Family at the bluffs and beach in Carlsbad beach, San Diego! Carlsbad is such an epic place to take maternity and family photos. 

In Carlsbad there’s this long stretch of beach that has these bluffs that go along side it that are so beautiful! The Carlsbad bluffs have a redish brown hue that comes out so well in photographs, along side the greenery and the ocean it’s next to.   There are also many different places to do maternity or family photos, you can start on the bluffs and then make your way down to the beach to create a completely different look! Once your down at the beach you are able to get those soft bright tones of the ocean, but you can also use the bluffs for more contrast! Perfect spot for a date night if you ever need an idea! 

One thing I always look out for when I’m photographing weddings or engagements at the beach is the tide.  The tide can change so drastically and can really determine where you're going to do photos because certain beaches disappear at high tide.  In Carlsbad, most beaches will just expose more sand, and you can see that in these photos.

The Miller family was so fun to photograph on the Carlsbad Bluffs and beach.  They have been long time friends of mine and I knew Ryan when we were in middle school! To see him meet his wife and now have a growing family is one of the reasons I love being a photographer. I have the chance to meet all these amazing people and see them grow and become a family! It is such an honor! I had so much fun taking photos for them and as they await their newest member, a little girl who will be named Lucy. I hope you enjoy their maternity and family session as much as I enjoyed photographing it!!
